Oh, Please. Not Today.

For the past nine dawns, I was very happy that I had only been of such misfortune to attend only one homily where anti-RH Bill rants were misplaced in the sermon after every Gospel reading. There were unrelated stories - one even placed me on the verge of being late, thank Heavens he ended his homily 5 minutes before 6 AM - and of course Christmas stories during the homily and only once instance of hinting on the Bill when I attended Misa de Gallo in Cavite. With the almost-clean record, I was hoping before I left for Christmas Mass this morning that the priest would be a good sport and talk nonsense in front of a larger-than-average crowd. What added to my good expectations was that the priest for this morning was the jolly one during the past Misa de Gallo's. Then it happened.

I'm not proud of it but I almost always fall asleep during the homily. I even blogged about my hypothesis that blood has been redirected to my stomach to facilitate absorption of digested nutrients, since we hear Mass after having our lunch, hence a decrease in the cerebral blood flow which causes the symptom of 'sleepiness' to occur to me. Same thing happened this morning but I suddenly got whiff of what was being discussed: RH Bill. And you don't expect any good - and rational, I daresay - thing and praises about it.

They started the ball rolling with their general view of abortion as equitable to the Bill. The Bill does not even condone abortion! The legislators even had the word 'WHO' removed because of its view of applying medical abortion to save women in high-risk pregnancy cases. It's basically crying NO TO ABORTION and you kept on ranting your closed-minded shouts of "RH BILL = ABORTION". Seriously, the nerve you have.

Then, they started mixing in with the Bill's intrusion to the sanctity of marriage, particularly the 'pagiisa ng mag-asawa' - their 'safest' way of talking about sex - no doubt hinting on the infamous 'safe and satisfying sex' phrase in the Bill. Should we call on Senators Cayetano, Legarda and Santiago in person to explain their stands, particularly Santiago's. That would be fun. Women themselves defend for the phrase as can be evidenced by this article: THIS!

Then out of the blue, homosexual couples were placed in the discussion. Stating that the God made women for men. I guess it's from 1 Corinthians 11:9, I'm really not sure about my verses so I Googled it. Turns out that should be the case and NOT the other way around. Sucks for women back then, I guess. But back to the issue of abhorring homosexuality. Galatians 3:28, man. Verse-aholics may shout back that it does not say anything about accepting homosexuality and I'm just randomly throwing non-sense. You are among the last people that I expect to say that. I guess I have been mistaken all this time.

They continued to rant what for me is just pure rubbish. Even emphasizing on that abortion shiz. Some people, usually the parish patrons, sadly bob their heads in agreement. They have their right to what they want to believe. So do I, hence the fruition of this blog entry.

Happy Christmas, dear Readers.
