After devoting (a collective of) four hours listening to the recorded oral arguments on the RH Law last July 9, there were several points worth noting:
1. That parties that are against the implementation of the RH Law only contest the use of hormonal contraceptives because of their (supposed) 'abortifacient' effect.
2. That most of their objections against the Act stem from said understanding and the necessary inclusion of these forms of contraceptives whenever 'full range of methods' is mentioned in the text.
3. That I heard 'Shit' in the record being said ever so silently while Atty. Noche was (probably frantically) flipping through the pages of her copy of the law.
4. That there are light moments during these sessions as can be judged from the recorded snide remarks and laughter. That
5. That you just can't help but get annoyed that anti-RH proponents would argue that contraceptives do not work. Kakulangan ng tamang impormasyon, most likely." and all you can do is pout in annoyance and raise eyebrows on those heinous remarks while inside a jam-packed bus.
One of the finest points during the session was when the ChiefJustice herself gave the 'Clerk Scenario' which provided so much depth and perception to the problem given to the High Court.
July 23 recorded oral arguments, you will be listened to next week during early morning bus rides.
