Series Scheemies

I planned to write this thing down in my journal but opted not to. I started it for the sole purpose of sharing my feelings without the fear of having them posted here. Like a channel, diverting emotion-laden landslide of feelings from polluting this happy, merry brain fart mix. So enough with the drama and continue with the brain-farting!

Series. TV series, to be precise. No magic as powerful as their captivating plots and enjoyable drama can parallel their might in transfiguring a normally-sane person to a couch potato. Different shows cater to different people: police-wannabe? There is the whole CSI series and franchises and their brothers, NCIS and Law & Order. Class joker? Perhaps the appeals of sitcoms like Parks & Recreation and Two and a Half Men will do you good. Hopeless romantic but maintains a class clown facade? Romcoms like FRIENDS and How I Met Your Mother will surely pinch that heart out of you. You see, they captivate our attention by appealing to our hidden desires, childhood dreams and even fantasies that we concoct in the middle of the day. But I'm not here to talk about that. I'm talking about brain-fart level of randomness!

Once Upon A Time
Currently on its third season (but I'm just a few episodes shy of the second season's
finale), this show puts the Theory of Six Degrees of Separation to shame. It should be Four or Three (or may even be less than that) Degrees of Separation. I especially liked how they connected the fairy tales into a meh-coherent-but-enjoyable melting pot that is Storybrooke and letting the drama between the tales do its job. Especially now that they're dealing with characters not from the Enchanted Forest, this show is just begging to be dug for more backstories.
Why should you get Hook-ed?
BECAUSE THERE ARE FAIRY TALES! And their stories are seemingly connected to one another, or at least one character from a story plays a part in another one's story. And the joy of different opening cards that foreshadow the story for that episode is incomparable.

How I Met Your Mother
I believe that there is a Ted in most - if not all - of us. That hopeless romantic side of us that keeps on, well, hoping that our dream girl will soon be within our grasp. Now on its ninth and final episode, the dragging T minus 24 hours to Barney's wedding is now drawing to a close. Story development crawls with the Marshall's-Lily's-Robin's-Ted's story format in the past few episodes. Despite this redundant format, I am still waiting for this story to end. And still hoping for that Ted-Robin twist against all odds. Yes, definitely a hopeless romantic here.
Why should you watch this legen-wait for it-dary show?
It has the funny antics of comedy and the heart-touching moments of romantic and drama shows. What else to look for, eh? And most people say it's reminiscent of FRIENDS which ran for ten years! Definitely a good show with that length of run and to see how HIMYM as something walking along its steps makes me wanna start with FRIENDS ASAP.

New Girl
The quirky and awkward story of Jess is on it's third season now and character and development story-wise, it's getting better. Although the addition of characters, though recurring they may be, is just a bit fast. OUAT dealt with this with the fact that there is a multitude of fairy tale out there, especially since they now dabbled with classic literature and overseas fairy tales. You can only deal with enough people in LA to put in their troop. Aside from that little quip, the show is still enjoyable now that you have to put the Jess-Nick relationship in the formula.
Why you shouldn't feel awkward watching it?
The awkward Jess proves us that we can be awkward and still be loved by people. And there are great lessons on relationships and things to do when you approach that quarter-life crisis of a bitch. At least it's closer to reality than other shows that I follow.

I'll post a part two to this brain fart. Thought I'd be just ranting about the recent episodes. Now it has turned into a 'why-should-you-watch-it' post. Publishing it lest it be lost in the Drafts folder where other abandoned posts stare at me with murder in their eyes. Ciao!
