For some ungodly reason, I woke up around 2:30 this morning and stayed awake until I decided to write this thing down. In between, I was watching videos from the current hype that is "Call Me Maybe" and its parodies to hilarious ones from kevjumba and nigahiga. Then, out of curiosity (and curiosity alone), I watched this one video entitled "Tales from the Friendzone" 'hosted' by Ramon Bautista. Basically it narrates a story from one of his Formspring subscribers who shared his 'love story' then Bautista gives out his advice. What really cracked me up was when he coined the guy's current situation as Pre-emptive SUPALPAL. I was really hoping for a really technical term while he was writing down 'pre-emptive' in the whiteboard because he is a professor (and from one of the best universities in the country, if not THE best. School spirit taking over me, pardon) but when he followed it with 'SUPALPAL' (blocked, get blocked), it just cracked me up. His advises were also hilarious but fundamentally true. So from this video, whatever sector of my brain that recognizes 'love' and its derivatives just lit up like the night sky on New Year's Eve. I found this music video - not searching for it, nope - made by a high school schoolmate entitled 'Be My Valentine' (this guy and his band made headline when they wrote a song for Alodia Gosiengfiao). This took me into a walk-down-memory-lane state which led me to write this entry down. As a matter of fact, I'm keeping the mood on by playing the song on continuous loop. Wanna hear it? Here's a link >> Be My Valentine. Back to that memory lane thingy. It got me thinking of the things that I did during V-day for the past years and here's what I think of them.
The latest one proved to be the closest I can get to a 'Valentines date' when my friend and I decided to eat out in some pasta place around the Metro. Mind you, their menu listings are student-friendly in terms of price and we chose the place because we ended around the area when another friend of ours decided to treat us some doughnuts and we're known to be as frugal as a college student can get. After the lunch, we decided to get back to class and guess what we did: laughed and joked around couples who were seriously feeling love in the air. From the poor guy in a suit with a bouquet of flowers waiting for his date to pairs showing their sweet nothings through roses and chocolates. Fun, but it was never awkward, despite the fact that this friend I'm talking about is a girl. Don't get the idea that I'm falling for her either, 'cause she's as sweet as a tad younger sister I never had, so no way. As for the past Valentines' day, I pretty much spend them, or even resent them maybe, by kidding around and proclaiming how it should be 'Singles Appreciation Day' and stuff like that. Good thing I have friends around who goof around me so I never get the chance to get ....lonely, for lack of a better term. And I never get the chance to ask that question that the song kept blaring during the chorus: "Would you be my Valentine?"
Gotta get some more shuteye hours. Back to Dreamland, I hope.
